Practical

Learning to play the piano well is an exciting and rewarding challenge, but to do so requires time, patience and effort:
  • Lessons are given weekly at my home or over the internet
  • Lessons last for 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the pupil's individual needs.
  • When pupils have lessons at my home, they are taught on both a Yamaha digital and a Schimmel acoustic piano (internet lessons are taught by demonstating on a Yahama digital piano)
  • Time should be set aside for practice in order that progress can be made. It is important that during this time the right environment is created for learning.
  • In addition to piano playing, all aspects of musicianship are taught - performance, theory, sight reading and aural skills.
  • Entrance to public examinations is actively encouraged.
  • I teach from complete beginners up to diploma level, including both performance and teaching diplomas.
